Since we all are going through a world health crises, it has become necessary to keep ourselves positive and also get used to the new normal. Our home is becoming a multipurpose space; it's a workplace, a gym, a playground for a few and whatnot. Every day we are transforming one space into many. In this entire process, we all are missing those long walks in the park, early morning trekking or hiking, that time of the day which we spend with nature and leave our stress behind - "Our great escape". Now that we are spending all of our time in our beautiful homes, maybe it's about time that we look at the spaces available with fresh eyes.

Let's discuss what types of plants are best for you according to your space and environment. Every house has a different story and a particular standard of living, no matter how big or small your space is. For someone who has never taken care of a plant before, it's best to start with small plants since it is always better to take baby steps. But one should never hesitate when it comes to experimenting.

FEELING OF BACK TO NATURE

Let's discuss what types of plants are best for you according to your space and environment. Every house has a different story and a particular standard of living, no matter how big or small your space is. For someone who has never taken care of a plant before, it's best to start with small plants since it is always better to take baby steps. But one should never hesitate when it comes to experimenting.

CREATE YOUR GREEN LIBRARY

Since a lot of us are working from home now, so maybe it's time for you to accentuate your work desk and add a little something to it. You can completely take advantage of your library unit and fill up those shelves with various kinds of small plants. Some specific suggestions would be succulents & cactus as they are small and can be placed anywhere. You can also create a beautiful layer with lush green Pothos (money plant). Some other plants to play around with would be Snake plant, Epipremnum, Bonsai and Ivy. Adding a touch of green in your workspace is a must as it affects your mood and also helps you keep calm and feel relaxed.

THAT CORNER OF THE ROOM

When it comes to your living space, that’s a huge ground to play around with. Get a pot that fits well with your colour palette and add an indoor plant of your choice; some go to plants would be Birds of paradise, Fiddle-leaf fig, Golden pothos, Swiss cheese plant, Areca palm. You can either decorate it at the centre of your coffee table along with your books or near a window where it can get perfect sunlight or on that console table behind your couch or next to it. Another spot would be showcasing it on your T.V. unit alongside your other artefacts.

The Bedroom is that part of the house where you forget all the hustle - bustle of life. By simply adding a piece of green in your Zen space, you can let the room speak so much about itself. You can place a beautiful indoor plant right next to your bed or on your bedside table so that when you wake up, the first thing you see in the morning would be a little piece of nature. If you get enough light in your room then don't shy away from placing any big indoor plant, some recommendations are Spider plant, Ficus, Rubber plant or ZZ plant.

Our bathroom gets super humid, so it’s best to create a little tropical corner in there. No matter how big or small your space is there are always few ideal spots to highlight your plants. You can hang a plant in the corner of your bathroom near a window where it can get enough air and sunlight. Another place would be at the corner of the sink or a pot near your bathtub, in which any member from Succulent, Fern or a Cactus family are good to go as these plants don't need much of light or water. To name a few: String of pearls, Maranta, Maiden fern, Tree cactus, Enchino cactus, Golden barrel cactus.

For all those amazing chefs who spends most of their time in the kitchen creating some divine food, it’s always special to have a little herb corner. Even if you don't have enough space on your counter you can still place your little farm near the sink area or at your shelves or at the kitchen platform. Because of all the cooking, our kitchen gets filled up with all the aroma and steam. Hence, it’s good to keep a few indoor plants. Use your old broken mug or a bowl or a plate to grow all those lovely herbs and add that garden-freshness in your kitchen.

1) Overwatering or under watering can kill your plants.

2) It’s important to keep your plant in sunlight at least once a week especially indoor plants, too much light or not enough light can also cause a problem.
